The House at Cornell Tech, located on Roosevelt Island, is a pioneering 26-storey student residence completed in 2017. Designed by Handel Architects and certified to Passive House standards, it was the world’s tallest Passive House building at the time of completion. The dormitory houses 352 units across 198,339 ft² and sets new standards for energy efficiency and sustainability in urban high-rise design.
MosArt, as the energy modeller and certifier, ensured the building’s exemplary thermal performance, reducing energy consumption significantly. The House is a landmark in sustainable architecture, demonstrating the viability of large-scale energy-efficient buildings.
