We’re looking for a talented individual to join our team and play a key role in preparing the groundwork and be at the forefront of our project development. In this position, you will be responsible for analysing, surveying and managing data from architecture and engineering design packages that form the foundation for Passive House design projects. You will also be engaged in developing geometric building models by translating architectural designs into detailed Passive House design and calculation models. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with building design and surveying, and has a keen interest in contributing to large-scale, sustainable projects

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with colleagues on building surveying and geometric build modelling, to meet Passive House on large residential and non-residential projects 

  • Provide technical support to colleagues by identifying and extracting from design packages relevant metrics for Passive House energy assessments 

  • Analyse and interpret architectural drawing packages, measuring building metrics - such as internal areas and volumes - to provide accurate data for Passive House energy assessments 

  • Interpret MEP schematics and layout drawings, measuring design metrics - such as lengths of water and ventilation ductwork - to provide accurate data for Passive House energy assessments 

  • Develop building models in SketchUp by translating architectural design packages into functional Passive House geometric models to be used in energy assessments.  

  • Work within clearly defined documentation structure so information can be clearly accessed, reviewed & processes by colleagues 

  • Developing efficiencies for the above processes
     

The ideal candidate would have the following: 

  • Good communication skills with the ability to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with others to align on requirements 

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and analyse architectural and engineering design packages while surveying relevant information 

  • Highly diligent in task execution, with attention to detail and excellent organisational skills for managing and storing information 

  • Strong commercial awareness and a keen interest in Sustainability 

  • An understanding of the MEP servicing approaches - this would be an advantage  

  • Passive House Designer/ Consultant with experience in PHPP – this would be a distinct advantage but is not necessary as full training will be provided 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, as a minimum 

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and Sketchup, as a minimum to navigate through design packages in various formats
     

Educational Requirements: 

  • Level 7 degree in surveying or other construction related field

  • Expenses, where applicable, will also be paid at the end of the month 

  • Working hours 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Thursday & .8:30am to 1pm on Friday. It’s very important to us that staff don’t work additional hours if at all possible
