Typical assessment context - 41 turbine wind farm project near Donegal Town. The project being presented here involved the landscape and visual impact assessment of three wind farms proposed for an area of high ground located east of Donegal Town. In total, 41 turbines were proposed in an area that already has a number of other wind farms either constructed or approved in terms of planning permission. Assessment of cumulative effect was therefore a core part of the study.
The three projects were granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanala in August 2007, with just one of the 41 proposed turbines refused.
