MosArt was commissioned in July 2008 to develop three concepts for a key area at the northern end of Blackrock Park on the south coast of Dublin, to be called Booterstown Arena. The complex setting and challenging brief links coastal wetland areas with Bootertown Dart Station and its associated Park & Ride facility. As well as providing a bold statement in contemporary Landscape Architecture, the design for Booterstown Arena was required to focus strongly on sustainable design.
Some of the key issues for the scheme were:
- The use of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
- Enhancement of the lagoon and adjacent wetland habitats.
- Provision of passive and renewable energy alternatives for a proposed Youth Cave Building.
- Solutions for the required car park provisions.
